Drawing and Talking in Oswestry

Who may benefit from Drawing and Talking?

Drawing and Talking provides gentle emotional wellbeing support for children and young people who may be experiencing difficult feelings or finding it hard to express what is happening for them.

Families may consider Drawing and Talking when a child or young person is experiencing worries or anxiety, low confidence, friendship difficulties, family changes, bereavement or loss, school-related worries, emotional overwhelm, or other difficult life experiences.

Children do not need to be good at drawing and there is no expectation for them to explain or analyse their pictures. The sessions provide a calm, consistent space in which they can express themselves at their own pace.

Drawing and Talking for children and young people in Oswestry

I offer one-to-one Drawing and Talking sessions in Oswestry for children and young people from Oswestry and the surrounding areas of Shropshire and the Welsh borders.

I welcome enquiries directly from parents and carers, including families who home educate, as well as enquiries from schools looking for additional emotional wellbeing support for pupils.

What happens during Drawing and Talking?

Drawing and Talking is delivered as a structured programme of weekly one-to-one sessions.

Sessions are child-led and use simple drawing materials. Children are not asked to create a particular picture or produce a "good" drawing. Instead, the sessions provide a consistent, supportive space in which they can work at their own pace.

Sessions are confidential within appropriate safeguarding boundaries.

Drawing and Talking for home-educated children

Home-educated children can sometimes benefit from having a regular space outside of their usual learning and family environment where the focus is entirely on their emotional wellbeing.

I work with home-educating families in Oswestry and the surrounding area and can provide Drawing and Talking as a stand-alone programme, without the child needing to attend a school or be referred by one.

Drawing and Talking support for schools

I also welcome enquiries from primary and secondary schools in Oswestry and the surrounding area interested in providing Drawing and Talking for individual pupils.

Please contact To Thrive Tutoring & Wellbeing Services to discuss availability and how sessions could work within your setting.

Drawing and Talking for adults in Oswestry

Drawing and Talking isn't only for children and young people. Adults may also benefit from having a calm, confidential space to explore thoughts, feelings and life experiences through drawing.

You don't need to be artistic or know what you want to talk about. Sessions offer a gentle, non-confrontational way to express feelings that may sometimes be difficult to put into words.

I welcome enquiries from adults in Oswestry and the surrounding areas who would like to find out more about Drawing and Talking and whether it may be suitable for them.
